ATLANTA -- The bullpens for the Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies are headed in different directions. The Braves have been getting some stellar work from their relief pitchers, while the Phillies pitchers have struggled in that role.Barring a complete game -- Atlanta has had one, Philadelphia has had four this season -- both teams are likely to go to the bullpen on Thursday, the final meeting between the two teams this year and Philadelphias final trip to Turner Field.Philadelphia sends right-hander Jeremy Hellickson (12-10, 3.78) to the mound against Atlanta right-hander Josh Collmenter (3-0, 4.19).The Philadelphia bullpen has allowed 23 runs since Sunday. The bullpen has a 10.05 ERA since Sept. 15The bullpen just hasnt been doing the job, Philadelphia manager Pete Mackanin said. At some point somebody has to do a job. Somebody has to step up. In two games, every reliever Ive brought in has given up a run. Thats unheard of.The problem begins with closer Jeanmar Gomez, who has blown two saves in his last three opportunities. Edubray Ramos has been dealing with a slight elbow issue.Luis Garcia, Severino Gonzalez and David Hernandez have been battered of late. Only Hector Neris has surpassed expectations lately. The Atlanta bullpen has been a mix-and-match collection that has achieved success, especially in regards to preventing home runs. The relievers have allowed only seven homers since the All-Star Game and only 41 this season, fewest in the league. The Braves have gotten good performances from Jose Ramirez, Ian Krol and Chaz Roe and have uncovered a solid setup man in hard-throwing rookie Mauricio Cabrera. Veteran Jim Johnson has solidified the closer role since Arodys Vizcaino went on the disabled list.Hellickson will make his 32nd start of the season, his career high. He has started at least 27 games in five of his six full seasons in the major leagues.Hellickson was roughed up in his last start against the Mets, allowing six runs in 4 1/3 innings. He is 1-0 with a 4.08 ERA in three career starts against the Braves. He last worked against Atlanta on Sept. 2 and received no decision after giving up four runs in six innings.Collmenter has been a valued addition to the staff since he was acquired from the Cubs for cash on Sept. 16.In two starts since joining the rotation, Collmenter is 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA. He beat the Marlins on Sept. 22 and allowed two runs in seven innings. Collmenter is 1/3 with a 4.78 ERA in 12 career appearances, five starts, against the Phillies.Atlanta first baseman Freddie Freeman will try to extend his hitting streak (30 games) and on-base streak (46 games). Freemans hitting streak is the third-longest in Atlanta franchise history and his on-base streak is the longest since Gary Sheffield set an Atlanta record with 52 in 2002.You take it for granted with this guy, Atlanta manager Brian Snitker said. Hes a machine. Pretty good. Authentic Francisco Lindor Jersey . The team also announced Tuesday that the Braves will wear a commemorative patch on the right sleeve during the season. The patch, shaped like home plate, carries the number 715, Aarons autograph and a "40th Anniversary" banner. Authentic Eddie Robinson Jersey . -- Ken Appleby made 32 saves for his first shutout of the season to lead the Oshawa Generals to a 2-0 win over the Belleville Bulls on Wednesday in Ontario Hockey League action. http://www.cheapindiansjerseys.us/ . That left plenty of energy for pitching books and swatting away free agency questions. Anthony had 24 points and nine rebounds, and the Knicks avenged an embarrassing home loss with a rout of their own, beating the Boston Celtics 114-88 on Wednesday night for their third straight victory. Authentic Carlos Baerga Jersey . Vettel, who has already clinched his fourth straight F1 title, enters the finale with a chance to equal Michael Schumachers 13 victories in a year and match the record of nine consecutive wins by Alberto Ascari in the 1952 and 1953 seasons. Authentic Roberto Perez Jersey . Despite the cost, effort and an improved steroid test, its possible that very few -- if any -- positives will be detected, Dr. Richard Budgett told The Associated Press in an interview. "We just dont know what the results from Torino will be," Budgett said. Less than 24 hours after allowing a late lead to slip away before losing in overtime, the New Jersey Devils on Saturday night will face a stiff test at Prudential Center from one of the NHLs top teams. The Tampa Bay Lightning, who have won five of seven to start the season and enjoyed a day off Friday while the Devils were losing to the Chicago Blackhawks 3-2, erased a 2-0 deficit in their first meeting with the Devils on Oct. 15 and earned a 3-2 regulation win.The Lightning have one thing working against them heading into this matchup -- right winger Nikita Kucherov is listed as day-to-day after suffering an injury in a 2-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday. It was feared the injury could be serious, so even if he misses Fridays game against New Jersey, it still feels like the Lightning dodged a bullet. Its never fun to see guys not finishing games, defenseman Victor Hedman said to the Tampa Bay Times. Well see what the status is. Guys have an opportunity to step up and play more minutes. Weve been through this before. Thats what weve been known for the last few years, guys step up when other guys do down. The Lightning reached the Eastern Conference Finals last season without Stamkos for all but Game 7 of that series. They are one of the deepest teams in the league and can certainly survive a game or two without Kucherov, who has averaged nearly 30 goals per season over the past two seasons. The Lightning also have a wealth of goaltenders with Ben Bishop and Andrei Vasilevskiy in net.Bishop was a Vezina Trophy finalist last season and Vasilevskiy played well in his absence when he got hurt during the past two postseasons. Bishop played in Montreal on Thursday despite having his teeth knocked out in the previous game, so either goalie could get the nod against the Devils.Inn the time Ive been here, I dont think Ive ever sat here and said, This goalie is playing this way and I decide not to play him, Lightning coach Jon Cooper said to the Tampa Bay Times.dddddddddddd Over time the last couple years with Vasy, weve tried to slowly put him in. Were trying to get him minimum one game a week. The Devils have a workhorse No. 1 goaltender in Cory Schneider who will be between the pipes after getting a night off for the first time this season against the Blackhawks. Schneider is off to another stellar start with a 2.00 goals-against average and .936 save percentage in six starts. The problem for the Devils continues to be scoring; in seven games, theyve only cracked the two-goal mark once.Against the Blackhawks, two goals appeared to be enough before right winger Marian Hossa scored late to force overtime and center Artem Anisimov won it.Devils coach John Hynes was upset with his teams decision making in the third period and overtime, something he wants fixed before the Lightning take the ice Saturday. We have to move past this one, Hynes said. We have to extract (the lesson). Thats really what I said tonight. The beauty of playing back to back is you have an opportunity to redeem yourself. Well take the lessons from this game and make sure we come out with a competitive effort like we did tonight and we got to get that smart part of our game in key situations to match our level of compete. Its a long season, and I think were going to get better at protecting leads and playing with leads, Devils left winger Taylor Hall said to NJ.com. Its not something that Im worried about. We can get a little more comfortable in those situations.
