The Miami Dolphins look to put their 59-10 loss to the Baltimore Ravens behind them on Sunday when they get back on the field for their Week 2 contest. It is not an easier opponent they welcome into Hard Rock Stadium Chandler Cox Jersey nfl draft , however, as the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots come to South Florida. The first of two meetings between the division rivals, Miami is one of the biggest home underdogs in league history. This game has the potential to get away from the Dolphins quickly. But, weird things always happen to the Patriots in Miami, and the Dolphins will need that trend to continue this week. Who are the 2019 Patriots? To get a better idea, I turned to Bernd Buchmasser, managing editor of SB Nation’s Patriots team site, Pats Pulpit, to get a closer look at New England ahead of the 105th regular season meeting between the clubs. My questions are in bold, with Buchmasser’s answers following each.1. Should we expect Antonio Brown to be anything more than a decoy this week? Will he be up to speed on the Patriots’ offense and will they ensure he is a part of the game plan against Miami?Brown traveled to Miami with the team, so there is at least a theoretical chance he plays on Sunday. As to his workload, comparing the situation to last year’s acquisition of Josh Gordon is a popular method of trying to project how much playing time he may or may not see: Gordon was acquired via trade on September 17, traveled with the team to Detroit six days later, but was ultimately declared a game-day inactive; he made his debut one week later (against Miami) and played 18 of 81 offensive snaps. There is one major difference that needs to be considered, however. Gordon was dealing with a hamstring injury when he was acquired — Brown is fully healthy.I therefore expect his situation to be only somewhat similar to Gordon’s last year: he will be declared active, but play a somewhat limited role in the offense. While Brown is one of the best wide receivers in all of football Super Bowl Chandler Cox Jersey , the Patriots’ offense is one of the league’s most challenging. Players also don’t earn Tom Brady’s trust over night, and the veteran wideout remains a work in progress in this regard. Sunday’s game will be another step in that direction, but that. step probably won’t be all too big.2. Obviously, the Patriots dispatched the Steelers with relative ease in Week 1, coming away with the 33-3 victory. What were the keys to that victory and where can Miami make adjustments to slow down New England’s offense? The Patriots played a terrific complementary game against Pittsburgh: the defense was stout all night long by shutting down the running game and playing tight man-to-man coverage across the board; the offense took advantage of its opportunities and challenged its opponent through the air; special teams did not allow any big returns and was very good on place kicks and punts. Add it all up and you get a blowout win against an opponent that found itself in a whole early and subsequently had to play the game by New England’s rules (e.g. trying to move the football by passing against one of the NFL’s elite secondaries). What can the Dolphins take away from that game defensively? It is hard to project what the Patriots will do on Sunday, but two things Miami should try to do is a) try to make the unit one-dimensional by focusing on shutting down the running game, and b) challenge an offensive line that will miss its starting center (David Andrews, injured reserve) and likely also right tackle (Marcus Cannon). If I were Brian Flores, I’d try to go with big personnel up front but also send blitzes from the second level to challenge New England’s chemistry and communication up front. It is a risky plan — Tom Brady is just too good, and he figures out the weaknesses in blitzing concepts rather quickly — but I think the Dolphins need to take risks if they want to slow down this attack.3. Are there weaknesses in a defense that held Pittsburgh to just three points? The Patriots played a very good defensive game against the Steelers, but it was far from perfect. The unit, for example, put inconsistent pressure on quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and also did have some lapses in its man-to-man coverage — using more rub routes or other man-beaters could have helped produce more big plays down the field. The main issues for the team, however, might have been a) its inability to produce extended drives, and b) unwillingness to stick to the ground game. Both resulted in the Patriots defense getting off the field rather quickly at times Football Chandler Cox Jersey , something that cannot happen against a team like the Patriots. One way or another, the Dolphins need to string together positive plays and keep the football for extended periods of time.4. Who will be the surprise impact player for the Patriots?Last week, New England did not have a tight end on the field for 25 of its offensive snaps. So naturally, I’m picking one of the tight ends to be the surprise impact player — because, let’s be honest, a tight end making an impact in this offense would qualify as such. With Matt LaCosse probably still on a snap count after being limited in practice due to an ankle injury that essentially forced him to sit out last week’s game (he was active but did not play), Ryan Izzo is projected to again be the number one option at the position. While primarily a blocker, I can see Izzo get his chances in the passing game as well. And, who knows, maybe he does come away with a big catch or some big blocks in the running game. Now that I’ve said it, though, he will probably be inactive.5. Typically, early in the season, I like to see what are realistic expectations for fans for each team, but given this is Patriots week, that answer is going to be a Super Bowl appearance if not another win. Instead Jesse Davis Jersey , we will ask about the next player who could be added to the roster. Do you have any realistic expectation that (a skinny looking) Rob Gronkowski will come back to the team at some point? While there have been a lot of rumors about Gronkowski returning at some point, I am not all that optimistic. After all, the press conference about his “next career step” he held in late August made it clear that football was repeatedly bringing him down. While he pointed out that he might return when the desire to play comes back, he did not offer a timeline and generally sounded happy with his current life. Anything is possible, of course, but the signs — from his injury history to his public statements — make me believe that the Patriots have seen the last of Gronk, at least in 2019. MIAMI (AP) — New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Dennis Allen is the third candidate to interview for the Miami Dolphins‘ coaching job.He met Saturday with the Dolphins, who earlier interviewed New England Patriots linebackers coach Brian Flores and Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy. Miami is seeking a replacement for Adam Gase, fired Monday after three seasons.Allen went 8-28 as head coach of the Oakland Raiders before he was fired four games into the 2014 season. Since he joined the Saints, they’ve risen from 31st in yards allowed in 2015 to 14th this season. The Dolphins are also expected to interview their special teams coach, Darren Rizzi; Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio; Dallas Cowboys secondary coach Kris Richard; and former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak, now the Pittsburgh Steelers’ offensive line coach.

THOUSAND OAKS Infant Dakota Allen Jersey , Calif. (AP) Ndamukong Suh earned multiple All-Pro honors, Pro Bowl selections and tens of millions of dollars during his first eight NFL seasons. The imposing defensive lineman had never won a playoff game, let alone a Super Bowl. When he was free to choose his next team after the Dolphins released him last March, Suh decided he would try to fill that gap in his resume. After speaking at length with the New Orleans Saints and other suitors, he decided to join the Los Angeles Rams . They hadn’t won a playoff game since the 2004 season, but they appeared to be on the verge of something big after going 11-5 last season.“I felt this team had some of the right pieces, and I would be a good addition to it,” Suh said. “A lot of conversations that we had with the coaching staff and the front office on my visit were (about) playing well in the season and being prepared for the postseason.”Nearly 10 months later, the payoff has arrived for Suh’s leap of faith to Los Angeles. After the Rams went 13-3 for the best regular-season record of Suh’s career, he had likely his best game for his new team last weekend when Los Angeles beat the Dallas Cowboys 30-22 in the divisional round. The Rams head into the NFC championship game at the Superdome on Sunday with a shot at the 32-year-old Suh’s first trip to his sport’s biggest stage.“It would mean a lot,” Suh said. “I’ve been in this league for nine years. (This is) my first NFC championship (game), and that would be my first Super Bowl. I get chills thinking about it, so I’m excited. I’m looking forward to it.”Suh’s thoughts are echoed across the Rams’ locker room, which is filled with accomplished NFL players who have never accomplished much in the postseason. Many key players remain from the team that went 4-12 in 2016 during the franchise’s 13th straight non-winning season Discount Dakota Allen Jersey , from Jared Goff and Todd Gurley to Aaron Donald and Michael Brockers.Several of the veterans that Los Angeles has added in the past two years also lacked playoff credentials – including 37-year-old Andrew Whitworth, the dominant left tackle who finally got his first postseason win last weekend.“Honestly, we feel like we’ve been through it,” Whitworth said. “There’s really not much adversity we haven’t seen all year long. I think we kind of feel like we were born for this moment and this opportunity.”Indeed, the Rams likely don’t have the collective playoff experience of their fellow conference finalists, but they have a firm bond forged during a season of upheaval. They had to stick together in November when the suburban area around their training complex was rocked by the double impact of a mass shooting at a bar and two wildfires that forced several players and coaches to leave their homes as a precaution. The Rams also had to adjust to a schedule change when their game against the Chiefs in Mexico City was moved back to Los Angeles on six days’ notice.None of it has shaken the team led by coach Sean McVay, who became the youngest coach in NFL history to win a playoff game last weekend.McVay acknowledges no concern about his inexperience on the sport’s highest levels when compared to the likes of New Orleans’ Sean Payton, who has a Super Bowl ring. That’s because McVay has assistant coaches with experience in conference championships and Super Bowls – particularly defensive coordinator Wade Phillips, who has done and seen everything the NFL can offer. While a conference title game in the deafening Superdome is a new experience for most Rams, Brandin Cooks is an exception on several fronts. The veteran receiver won’t even be surprised by the Superdome din.Cooks played three years with the Saints – albeit without making the playoffs – before moving to the Patriots last season. He played in the first quarter of the Super Bowl before incurring a concussion that kept him out of the rest of New England’s loss to Philadelphia.Cooks was traded to the Rams, but he agreed to a five-year contract extension before he had even suited up in a horned helmet. He says he hasn’t regretted his decision, although he didn’t dare to imagine he would have a chance to play in two straight Super Bowls for different teams.“When I got here, I knew we had something special,” Cooks said. “But (I knew I shouldn’t) get ahead of myself. Take it one game at a time Dakota Allen Jersey nfl draft , just build throughout the weeks, and if we have the opportunity, then we’re blessed. Don’t think about it too much, is what I should say.”NOTES: WR Robert Woods also got his first career playoff win last week. The six-year veteran admits that last years’ experience in the Rams’ postseason loss to Atlanta helped them. “Just learning from that experience, our win last week was about situational football. Just executing, and protecting the ball.” … For the second straight day, the Rams had no players on their injury report. Although they’ve lost key receiver Cooper Kupp for the season, the Rams have been otherwise remarkably healthy this season. … The torrential rains that have hit Los Angeles over the past three days abated by midday Thursday, allowing the Rams to practice on their normal outdoor fields. The team erected an enormous temporary tent on the parking lot next to their training complex if they needed it, but so far it hasn’t been necessary to go indoors. Aaron Donald makes a joke during a break in practice, and Ndamukong Suh chuckles. Pretty soon, the entire Los Angeles Rams' defensive line is cracking up.This new defense is no laughing matter, though. Six months after the Rams assembled a remarkable collection of veteran talent, it's finally all out on the practice field together.Michael Brockers Super Bowl Dakota Allen Jersey , the other defensive lineman in the Rams' fearsome threesome up front, thinks the rest of the NFL should be wary."Just backing out of the huddle and looking at all the talent we have is kind of surreal," Brockers said. "I look back and I'm like, 'Bro, we can be so crazy on this field.' But it's on paper first, so we have to go out there and prove why we're so talented, why we're so great."Donald, Suh and Brockers have been together in practice for the first time over the past week while the Rams prepare for their opener in Oakland on Monday night. Cornerbacks Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib are eager to get on the field after barely playing in the preseason to see if this defense can live up to its enormous potential. The bulk of the defensive starters only got seven snaps together in the preseason. That's still more than the offense, which didn't play at all, and defensive coordinator Phillips doesn't sound overly concerned."I think they're going to be really good," Phillips said. "But it's (about) meshing together and playing the right way. I have a lot of confidence in them. ... We have a group that really likes football. Some teams or players I've been with, they played because they were good at it or whatever. But this group, they like football. They like playing football, and some of them even like practicing Johnny Hekker Jersey , which is a little different."Donald is the biggest key to the Rams' aspirations, and the NFL's defensive player of the year is going full-speed in practice after being away from the team for several months in a contract holdout. He won't have any limit on his snaps in Oakland, coach Sean McVay confirmed Friday."We've been missing that little puzzle piece, the final piece, so it's been awesome," Brockers said. "He's been making some great jokes, and we're just happy to have him back. ... A.D. is a pro. He's been studying the playbook. He's been watching film. Literally, we plugged him in, and he knew everything he's supposed to do. We haven't had to slow down at all. We honestly picked up the tempo."Donald missed the Rams' 2017 season opener after ending his holdout one day earlier. This year, he signed his new contract last Friday and reported to the Rams in time to get ample work before the games begin."You kind of know what to expect," Donald said of his second straight late arrival. "But you've got the opportunity to come back and basically get six practices under my belt before the first game, so I think that's going to be a big help for me, as far as getting adjusted out there."Donald's partnership with Suh has been hotly anticipated ever since the Rams outmaneuvered several suitors last March to sign Suh to a one-year deal."He makes my job easier, you know?" Donald said. "When you've got guys out there like him and Brock next to you Greg Zuerlein Jersey , you know the other guy is going to make plays, just like you make plays. You're just a little bit more comfortable."Any talk about the potential success of this defense comes with a giant caveat in the middle. While the defensive line and secondary are jam-packed with proven NFL talent, the Rams' linebackers are mostly unproven at an elite level. What's more, veteran inside linebacker Mark Barron seems increasingly unlikely to begin the season healthy after missing the first two days of practice this week with a flare-up of an Achilles tendon injury that has dogged him for months.Untested Cory Littleton is taking over for traded middle linebacker Alec Ogletree, the Rams' leading tackler in four of the past five seasons. Samson Ebukam and Matt Longacre also are penciled into starting spots, and even defensive lineman Dominique Easley has taken practice reps as a pass-rushing outside linebacker. If Barron can't play against the Raiders, Los Angeles is likely to put Ramik Wilson into the starting lineup for his Rams debut after three seasons in Kansas City."He's a smart player," said Phillips, who played Wilson more extensively in the preseason than other probable regular-season contributors. "He's started before in the league, and he's played well when he's been in there. He knows what to do."

Free agent running back Kareem Hunt is expected to be back on the field some time during the 2019 season.Hunt will surely be suspended to start the 2019 season Terrance Smith Jersey , but he is expected to learn the length of his suspension before the start of the league year, and he is likely to be allowed back during the 2019 season, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. The start of the league year, when free agency begins, actually isn’t particularly relevant to Hunt, who is a free agent right now. Free agency only begins in March for players whose contracts have expired, not for players who were released, as Hunt was by the Chiefs after video of him assaulting a woman surfaced.Hunt will surely have suitors. The Bears have already said they’d consider signing him, and they won’t be the only team interested. In fact, it’s possible that Hunt will come out ahead financially Khalen Saunders Kansas City Chiefs Jerseys , given that he was under contract for a very affordable $677,000 in 2019 under his rookie deal. Hunt is likely to get multiple free agent offers, all from teams that assure the public they’re deeply concerned about Hunt’s actions, while also acknowledging that they’re willing to pay him to help them win on Sundays. KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Chiefs began free agency Wednesday by cutting one of their most popular players in strong safety Eric Berry, who was a dynamic presence when healthy but had missed significant time throughout his career. While other teams were touting new additions, the Chiefs announced Berry’s release shortly after the start of the new league year. He would have been guaranteed $7.5 million of salary Friday.“We continually evaluate every aspect of our football team, and we came to the decision that it was in our best interest to release Eric,” Chiefs general manager Brett Veach said. “Knowing what Eric has meant to this organization and this city made this an incredibly difficult decision.”A three-time All-Pro, Berry was the Chiefs’ first-round pick in the 2010 draft Kansas City Chiefs Jerseys 2019 , and he quickly became a star, earning the first of five Pro Bowl invitations as a rookie. But he also missed most of the 2011 season with torn knee ligaments, most of the 2017 season with a torn Achilles’ tendon, and nearly all of last season, when a mysterious heel injury kept him off the field for all but two regular-season games.Berry also missed 10 games during the 2014 season when he was diagnosed with cancer, but he became a motivation to many when he concluded treatment and was back on the field the following summer.“On behalf of my family and the entire Chiefs organization, I want to thank Eric for his many contributions to the Chiefs over the last nine seasons,” Chiefs chairman Clark Hunt said in a statement.“Eric has been a tremendous leader for our football team and an inspiration to so many fans over the years and we sincerely appreciate all that he has meant to the Chiefs. He will always be an important part of our Chiefs family, and we wish him nothing but the best in the future.”The Chiefs agreed to a three-year, $42 million deal with former Texans safety Tyrann Mathieu before the start of free agency Khalen Saunders Jersey Cheap , and it turned out to be a signal that Berry’s time in Kansas City was over. His release comes with a post-June 1 designation, meaning the Chiefs take on $6.5 million in dead money this season and $8 million next season. It also marks the end of an era following the release of linebackers Derrick Johnson and Tamba Hali last season, and linebacker Justin Houston this offseason. The four were pillars for Kansas City during its renaissance under coach Andy Reid.“I’d like to thank Eric for his contributions to our team and the Kansas City community over the last nine years,” Reid said. “Seeing his passion and watching his love for the game has been truly remarkable. He’s a special person, and we wish him the best as his career moves forward.”While finances were a major consideration in the Chiefs’ recent moves, including the trade of top pass rusher Dee Ford to San Francisco, so has the way the roster had been constructed. The Chiefs sacked longtime coordinator Bob Sutton and replaced him with Steve Spagnuolo shortly after their defense wrapped up a miserable season with a complete letdown against the Patriots in the AFC championship game. Then it picked up steam once Spagnuolo examined the personnel and decided that many of the pieces did not fit with his preferred 4-3 system. The moves also have been made with an eye on the future. The unloading of several big contracts helps the Chiefs begin to negotiate with defensive tackle Chris Jones and wide receiver Tyreek Hill on extensions. They also are trying to create space to sign quarterback Patrick Mahomes to an extension when he becomes eligible next offseason.100<button class="view-gallery">View Gallery</button> Gallery:View from the sidelines: NFL cheerleaders 2018Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports | Raj Mehta

It looked for a day or two this week as if Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes would return to action only 10 days after dislocating his kneecap. Apparently Eric Fisher Jersey , Mahomes would have been back, if the game were being played in January.Mahomes told Michele Tafoya of NBC’s that he’d be playing tonight, if it were a playoff game. That’s an interesting position to take, since next Sunday’s game against the Vikings could be the closest thing a regular-season game ever gets to being a playoff game, if the Chiefs lose tonight.A loss tonight to the Packers would drop the Chiefs to 5-3, behind the 5-2 Ravens and the 5-3 Colts (who hold the tiebreaker) for the second seed in the AFC. Next week, in a game that could run Kansas City’s home losing streak to four, maybe Mahomes gets his way and forces his way onto the field Mitchell Schwartz Jersey , replacing Matt Moore.Mahomes originally had a timeline of 3-6 weeks. But he apparently is healing faster than expected, and perhaps he could be back in only seven days. I’ve watched plenty of Super Bowls in my lifetime Jason McCourty Jerseys 2019 , and yes I will admit it: Super Bowl 53 between the Patriots and the Rams was rather dull. Hands down one of the most anticlimactic football games I’ve ever seen. For three quarters, we essentially watched nothing but punts. Heck, that’s why 10 years from now, I will probably look back on this game and refer to it as “The Punt Bowl.” I saw way more of Ryan Allen and Johnny Hekker than I ever could have cared to. It was just brutal. If my favorite team, the Patriots, hadn’t been playing in the game, there’s a good chance I may have actually dozed off during a Super Bowl for the first time in my life. Of course Maroon 5 White Adrian Clayborn Jerseys , Travis Scott and Big Boi certainly didn’t do much at halftime to keep me awake either. That’s not to say that I didn’t appreciate watching the Patriots play their best defensive game of the year, completely demoralizing the No. 2 offense in all of football and shutting them out in the first half. That was an all-time defensive performance, and we have to recognize that. But still, this was the Super Bowl. We want to see a little bit of flare, right? It’s all good, though. In the end, the Patriots still prevailed — New England 13 Adrian Clayborn Jerseys 2019 , Los Angeles 3 — for title No. 6. And there were enough memorable moments in the fourth quarter to make up for the dreadful first three. There was even one moment that happened with a few minutes left in the third, when our old friend Brandin Cooks had a go-ahead touchdown catch in his sights — at least until Jason McCourty literally emerged out of nowhere to break it up. It may have been the play of the game. Tony Romo was raving about it on the CBS broadcast. On offense, of course, no play was bigger than Rob Gronkowski’s diving catch to bring the Patriots within the five-yard line with about seven and half minutes remaining. Gronk had a handful of big receptions in the game, but that catch was hands down his best of the game, and one of the best of his career. If we truly have seen the last of Gronkowski in the NFL (and I don’t think we have, but I had to throw that in here) White Jeremy Hill Jerseys , he certainly went out in style. And then, to be honest, this Super Bowl win wouldn’t have felt complete without a touchdown run from Sony Michel. The rookie running back has been a workhorse all year long, and he deserved to cap off his first season in the NFL by punching one in on the big stage. However, my favorite moment of Super Bowl 53 — the only moment of the game that really brought me out of my seat — was when Stephon Gilmore intercepted Jared Goff with a little over four minutes remaining. That was the moment when I finally took a deep breath and said, “Man, I think we’re going to do this thing.” Did you see the look on Goff’s face as he walked off the field after throwing that pick? It was almost Peyton-esque.Stephen Gostkowski tacked on a 41-yard field goal to make it a two-possession game Jeremy Hill Jerseys 2019 , but it didn’t seem like it mattered at that point. You could tell the Rams just didn’t have it. The best Rams team since “The Greatest Show on Turf” and they had only put up three points in about 57 minutes of football? They were cooked, and we all knew it.Sure, it might not be a Super Bowl that NFL Network will show replays of very often, but the fourth quarter gave us some exciting moments to cheer about. And most importantly, the Patriots won the game. It doesn’t matter if the final score was 13-3, or 30-3, or 100-3. The Patriots are still Super Bowl champions 鈥?again. That makes six rings for Tom Brady. Now he really is the Michael Jordan of football. Receiver Josh Gordon has been through plenty since arriving in the NFL nearly seven years ago via round two of the supplemental draft. While he still has plenty of hoops through which to jump in order to return to the NFL White Phillip Dorsett Jerseys , he now has the one thing that all NFL players aspire to obtain.Gordon has a Super Bowl ring.Multiple accounts, reports, and photos from Thursday night’s ring event at the home of Robert Kraft indicate the Gordon was present — and that he received a ring.He should. Gordon became a key part of the roster after being traded by Cleveland to New England early in the 2018 regular season. Even though Gordon was suspended yet again by the NFL for violating the substance-abuse policy, he earned the primary individual reward for the ultimate team achievement in the NFL.Gordon could be reinstated before the start of the 2019 season. His presence would boost an offense that currently is dealing with the retirement of tight end Rob Gronkowski.

In a Wild Card game dominated by defense and special teams Womens Derek Carr Jersey , the Chargers dominated the Ravens for much of the game. It got tense in the waning minutes when former Raiders wide receiver Michael Crabtree came through in the clutch with two touchdown passes. But in the end, the Chargers finished it off with a strip sack by linebacker Uchenna Nwosu on Lamar Jackson to pull out the win 23-17.The Chargers will now turn right around and head back to the East Coast for the Division round against the Patriots in Foxboro Massachusetts. The question is who will Raider Nation be rooting on in that game? It’s a tough question because like every NFL fan not on the Patriots bandwagon, no one wants to see the Patriots head to another AFC Championship. But does that overrule your want to see a division rival go down?A poll we took during the season suggested Raiders fans don’t see the Chargers as much of a rival. The bitterness is reserved for the Chiefs and Broncos. There is plenty of bitterness for the Patriots whose cheating tainted dynasty got its start with one of the worst calls in the history of football — the infamous ‘Tuck Rule game’ which was clearly a fumble by Tom Brady. The game would have ended there, but instead the Patriots kept possession Womens Antonio Brown Jersey , added a field goal to tie it and send it to OT, and won it. They went on to “win” the Super Bowl. So, I ask you to picture the game and which instance you would revel most. And no, a giant sinkhole swallowing up both teams is not an option. So Bo Jackson Jersey White , if you’re dying to see it when East Coast folks see it, that’s how to do it.It should be a fun first episode.

What happened in Week 8 of the AAF season?"Orlando 34 Tytus Howard Houston Texans Jersey , Memphis 31After leading 22-9, it looked like the Apollos salvaged a win. After Bosa and Allen Matthew Stafford Jersey , who is your favorite edge prospect?"WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections Detroit Lions NewsDetroit Lions NotesDetroit Lions AnalysisDetroit Lions TransactionsDetroit Lions Game RecapsBreaking NewsIntroducing the 2019 Detroit Lions Draft Class! 脳NFL DraftNFL Open ThreadsMonday open thread: Who is the 3rd best edge defender in the 2019 NFL Draft?New,97commentsAfter Bosa and Allen, who is your favorite edge prospect?ESTShareTweetShareShareMonday open thread: Who is the 3rd best edge defender in the 2019 NFL Draft?Melina Myers-USA TODAY SportsGoing into the NFL Combine weekend, many believed a top edge prospect wasn’t going to be available for the Detroit Lions with the eighth overall pick. Nick Bosa was the consensus No. 1 prospect and Josh Allen wasn’t far behind, but the remaining players—while possibly available when the Lions are on the clock—weren’t really considered worth a top-10 pick. Players like Clelin Ferrell, Brian Burns, Montez Sweat and even Rashan Gary were all commonly viewed as players that were more appropriately slotted in the mid-to-late first round. However, the edge defenders showed up at the NFL Combine. Athleticism was all on display as Brian Burns and Montez Sweat were both big winners on Sunday. Additionally, Rashan Gary and even Chase Winovich looked pretty solid Da’Shawn Hand Jersey , and now it looks like the Lions are going to have a pretty good shot at a decent edge defender... if they fall to them at eight. So today’s Question of the Day is:Who is the third best edge defender in the 2019 NFL Draft class?Note: This is assuming you still have Bosa and Allen as your No. 1 and 2. If your order is different, let us know.My answer: I’m not going to pretend that I have a strong opinion here, because I’m still in the midst of watching tape on some of these guys, but I will tell you that right now I’m most excited to dive deep into the tape of Brian Burns. Even before the Combine, there was a contingent of draft experts considering him a good fit for Detroit at eight, and after this kind of athleticism display...... that contingent has already grown. It’s easy to see why many are in love with this guy as a prospect. Hell, The Draft Network’s Kyle Crabbs actually has Burns as his No. 1 edge prospect above both Allen and Bosa. Regardless of your opinion here, it does appear that Detroit should have a pretty good defensive option at eighth overall after a strong Combine showing.Your turn. Sam Darnold rolled right and made a rookie move, lobbing a football across the field that was picked off and returned for a touchdown. It might've been his only mistake all night.Darnold made a stellar debut after throwing a pick-6 on his first NFL snap Tracy Walker Jersey , and the New York Jets intercepted five passes and also scored on special teams in a 48-17 rout over the Detroit Lions on Monday night. The 21-year-old Darnold became the youngest quarterback to start a season opener since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger, and looked his age on the first play."Licking my chops a little bit too much, I think, on that play," he saidQuandre Diggs intercepted his ill-advised pass and returned it 37 yards for a touchdown 20 seconds into the game."On that interception, I was pretty nervous," Darnold said. "After that, I put it behind me."The former USC star, drafted No. 3 overall Jarrad Davis Jersey , shook off the nerves and finished 16 of 21 for 198 yards and two touchdowns . He is the first quarterback to win his first start by 31 or more points since Tom Brady in 2001, per ESPN Stats & Info."He didn't flinch," Jets coach Todd Bowles said. "He didn't even blink."Darnold helped the Jets set a franchise record for points on the road, surpassing the 47 they scored in 1967 against the Boston Patriots. He also outplayed 30-year-old Matthew Stafford.Stafford threw four interceptions 鈥?one shy of his career high 鈥?and left the game briefly in the third quarter after being hit from the front and back by the swarming, hard-hitting Jets."We wanted to make sure we came out and made a statement in this game," New York linebacker Darron Lee said.Stafford was 27 of 46 for 286 yards and a TD pass to Golden Tate early in the third quarter to tie it at 17. He was mercifully taken out midway through the fourth quarter and replaced by Matt Cassel with Detroit down 31."Story of the game's turnovers, you know?" he asked. "We had too many of them, I had too many of them."The Jets dominated in all phases. They scored 31 straight in the third quarter to pull away, sending Detroit's fans for the exits and setting off a jolly green party in the Motor City. It was the highest-scoring third quarter in team history and trailed only the 34-point second quarter the Brett Favre-led team scored in 2008 against Arizona.New York scored on the ground and through the air Teez Tabor Jersey , on defense and on a punt return by former Lion Andre Roberts. The Jets could've piled on even more in the final minutes but turned the ball over on downs after kneeling to take time off the clock. Darnold flipped the ball to a referee after the final kneel down, and the official gave it right back before shaking the rookie's hand. Darnold was still holding the ball while talking briefly with Stafford on the field.Detroit coach Matt Patricia, meanwhile, will want to forget his debut as an NFL head coach."We've got to coach this a lot better than what we did," he said. "We've got to go out and execute a lot better on the field. It's a team game, and it starts with me."New NFL head coaches dropped to 0-6 in Week 1, with Oakland's Jon Gruden the group's final hope for an opening victory in the Monday nightcap.ROADIESLate in the game, just before Cassel threw an interception, hundreds of New York fans chanted: "J-E-T-S Kenny Golladay Jersey , JETS! JETS! JETS!" A crew clad in green and white filed into seats in four sections along the New York sideline and appeared to outnumber Detroit fans who stuck around for the bitter end."That was awesome to be able to see them doing their thing," Darnold said.STREAK STOPPEDThe Jets had played an NFL record 73 games, dating to 2013, without a defensive TD before Lee returned one of his two interceptions 36 yards for a score in the third. Trumaine Johnson, Morris Claiborne and Jamal Adams also picked off passes in a strong start for the Jets self-proclaimed "New Jack City" secondary.THREE'S COMPANYDarnold joined Tampa Bay's Jameis Winston (2015) and Brett Favre (1991) as quarterbacks who had their first pass intercepted and returned for a score.INJURIESJets: CB Johnson (head injury) and CB Buster Skrine (rib) returned to play after leaving the field with injuries. Johnson was evaluated after he intercepted a pass and fumbled after taking a hard hit from Detroit receiver Kenny Golladay.Lions: DE Ezekiel Ansah, who has struggled to get and stay healthy, left the game with a shoulder after making four tackles, including a sack. OG T.J. Lang left the game with a back injury. CB Darius Slay returned to play after leaving the field to be evaluated for a concussion.UP NEXTJets: Host the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.Lions: Visit the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

You know the drill.Mel Kiper Jr.’s mock draft 3.0 is out and has both Kyler Murray and Dwayne Haskins going in the top six picks, as well as White going in-between them at fifth overall. With the 11th overall pick, Kiper has the Bengals going with the best available linebacker: We’re going to get Devin-fatigue here pretty soon Alex Erickson Jersey Limited , but we’re not complaining. The debate between Bush and White has been raging since the conclusion of the NFL combine, where both linebackers blew everyone away in timed drills and jumps. In this scenario, Bush is left all by his lonesome while White ended up with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which is the clear current consensus for his landing spot.Bush to the Bengals has become a frequent choice for most analysts as White has elevated himself into the top-10, but would the Bengals take him with Ed Oliver still available? Oliver ended up with the Falcons at the 14th overall pick, and that seems to be his floor right now. Bush would fill a much bigger need for the Bengals Billy Price Jersey , but Oliver may end up being the player with the higher grade in the Bengals’ eyes, and finding an interior pass rusher to pair with Geno Atkins remains a big need for Lou Anarumo’s new defense, despite the addition of Kerry Wynn. With free agency in the rear-view mirror, offensive tackle has been casted aside as a first-round option for the Bengals, leaving linebacker as the most likely pick. Bush’s fantastic combine has elevated him into a lock for the first round, which has made the pairing all the more logical. But linebacker is not the only need that should be considered with the 11th overall pick Cheap Sam Hubbard Jersey , and the debate between Oliver and Bush could be a crucial one when April 26th comes around. The Cincinnati Bengals are set to make a couple more additions to Zac Taylor’s coaching staff.According to Field Yates of ESPN.com, the Bengals are hiring James Casey as tight ends coach and Ben Martin as assistant offensive line coach.Casey has spent the last three years coaching at the University of Houston after finishing a seven-year career in the NFL. Casey played in 95 games for the Houston Texans, Philadelphia Eagles and Denver Broncos, recording 72 catches for 842 yards and six touchdowns. He spent one year as an offensive assistant at Houston before taking over as tight ends coach at the school.Taylor and Martin spent time together on the coaching staff of the Miami Dolphins under Joe Philbin. Taylor was the quarterbacks coach on staff while Martin spent two years as an offensive assistant. He then spent two seasons at Division III Union College (N.Y.) before coaching offensive line at Division II Bryant College (R.I) last year. Martin had taken a job at Brown University before getting the chance to reunite with Taylor in Cincinnati.

There were plenty of people standing on the Houston Texans sideline that felt they had something to prove against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.Just about all of them succeeded Travis Kelce Jersey , too.Deshaun Watson threw for 280 yards and a touchdown while running for two more, outdueling Chiefs counterpart Patrick Mahomes, who was famously picked two spots ahead of him in the 2017 draft.Carlos Hyde ran for 116 yards and a touchdown against the team that traded him to Houston in the preseason, when the Chiefs decided there was no room for him in their own backfield. Most importantly, Bill O’Brien proved he could beat a team pegged a Super Bowl contender, leading the Texans to a come-from-behind 31-24 victory after losing three of his last four to Kansas City.“They care about the team. They seem to have fun with each other. We’ve just got to keep it going,” said O’Brien, whose losses to the Chiefs include a postseason defeat. “We just had a really good win against a good team, but we’re 4-2 and 4-2 gets you nowhere.”Better than being 3-3, though. That was still a possibility until DeAndre Hopkins made a sliding grab on fourth-and-3 from the Kansas City 27 with just under 2 minutes to go. That allowed the Texans to run out the clock and deal the Chiefs (4-2) their second consecutive loss — both at Arrowhead Stadium.“It’s a wonderful feeling to be able to deal with all the adversity and the up and down and flow of the game and to be able to fight for 60 minutes,” Watson said. “That’s what we did. We kept fighting and kept pushing and kept encouraging. This locker room, everyone is always fighting to the end regardless of the score. We don’t look at the scoreboard. We’re going to play 60 minutes every game.”Mahomes, hobbled once again by a sore left ankle, finished with 273 yards passing and three TDs while throwing his first interception of the season. Two of the scores went to Tyreek Hill, who returned for the first time since breaking his collarbone in a Week 1 win in Jacksonville.“We just have to flip a few things,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said. “The margin of winning and losing in this league is minute. We were this close to coming out of this thing with a win.”It wasn’t a pretty game for either side. They combined for 21 penalties totaling nearly 150 yards, and that didn’t include close to a dozen flags that were offsetting, overruled or declined. It was Kansas City that started hot [url=www.http://www.thechiefsclub.com/tyreek-hill-jersey/]Tyreek Hill Jersey[/url] , engineering drives of at least 90 yards twice in the first quarter. Hill finished the first with a 46-yard reception — the first touchdown throw in a first quarter by Mahomes since Week 1 — while Damien Williams finished the second with a 14-yard TD catch. In between, Hyde coughed up the ball on Houston’s first offensive play. But the big running back soon atoned for his mistake. Hyde battered the Chiefs’ porous run defense the rest of the game, punctuating a big first half against his ex-team with a short touchdown run.“It was big for him to come in here and do what he did,” Watson said. The Texans then took the lead into the locker room after Mahomes was strip-sacked with 20 seconds left and Houston recovered, and Watson waltzed into the end zone on the very next play.It wasn’t the last time he reached pay dirt.Mahomes hit Hill again in the third quarter to give the Chiefs the lead back , but the Houston quarterback answered with a 12-play, 93-yard drive consuming more than 8 1/2 minutes. By the time he spun into the end zone and converted the 2-point try, the Texans had a 31-24 lead with 6:17 to go.Kansas City went three-and-out on its next possession, and a defense that has been maligned for most of Reid’s tenure with the Chiefs failed to make a stop once again.“We haven’t played a perfect game on defense,” Chiefs defensive end Frank Clark said, “and we’re not going to play a perfect game, but we need to play a bit better. We need to eliminate the rush. When you eliminate the rush, you can have more fun.”FIRST PICKThe first pick Mahomes had thrown this season was nearly wiped out when an official threw a flag for pass interference. But after referee Shawn Hochuli announced the penalty, the officials huddled and decided to pick up the flag in a bizarre series of events.“It was man coverage and I saw (Travis) Kelce getting ready to do his move, so I threw it to where he was going to be and he got tackled,” Mahomes said. “With how the ruling worked, they said since the ball was uncatchable it wasn’t pass interference or something.”INJURIESTexans: CB Johnathan Joseph (hamstring) was inactive after showing up on the injury report Friday. Denver Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller leads the league in sacks among outside linebackers with 14.5 Eric Fisher Jersey , but don’t tell that to Kansas City Chiefs outside linebackers coach Mike Smith. He wouldn’t care. As a matter of fact, Smith said Thursday he doesn’t even know the sack totals for Chiefs starting linebackers Dee Ford and Justin Houston. And that is a good thing.Photo by Jamie Squire/Getty Images“It’s funny,” Smith said. “I can’t tell you how many sacks Justin or Dee have, or really anybody in the room. What I look at every week, I look at pass-rush productivity, Fraz (Mike Frazier) does a good job of that. It’s hurries, hits and sacks with the number of snaps. That’s the most important thing. And so I look at anything above 250 snaps, where are they at? Dee has 75, Justin has 45. That’s both top five. Going into last week, they were one and two. To me, it’s important if you’re affecting the quarterback. So that’s the thing that we stress in our room. That’s the thing that we keep track of. We don’t even keep track of sacks.”To be clear, Ford and Houston still get to the quarterback. They have a combined 19.5 times in 2018, but the idea from Smith is nothing new—it’s a point we have heard defensive coordinator Bob Sutton stress before. Obviously, a sack is only recorded when a player takes the opposing quarterback down. But the key the Chiefs preach is to affect him in any way possible, and that message has gotten through to the room.Photo by Abbie Parr/Getty Images“You want a sack, but you’re not going to get a sack every play,” Ford said. “You can’t rush with the mentality that I want a sack every play because you could be hurting the defense, so getting pressure on the quarterback is disrupting the timing of his throws. He can’t step through on certain throws. That takes different types of rushes and it takes you know how do that every play ... Sacks are going to come but it’s key times of the game—if the ball is going to come out quick, all we can do is disrupt that throw. That could lead us getting off the field, giving the ball back to the offense. Boom, we could win the game. All we needed was one stop against the Chargers and we could have been wearing hats that night. You know what I mean? I don’t like to talk about the past, but this is the mindset, this is what we’re looking toward and you can’t get caught up in things that are pretty much distractions.”As the Chiefs make changes to their secondary ahead of the playoffs Mitchell Schwartz Jersey , getting any kind of pressure helps—no matter who the team opts to play.“When you’re getting after the quarterback, that’s one of the top things we want to do, especially in passing situations,” Smith added. “That’s what we want to do. That’s our main goal, is to affect him. You start affecting, like I said, the spot, he can’t get to his second and third read, there’s a lot of things that affect the quarterback. He can’t step up—I think that’s a great job that our inside guys are doing.”Photo by Jamie Squire/Getty ImagesSoon after rookie Breeland Speaks was drafted, the thought was that he would be able to help the Chiefs “on all three downs.” And although that has happened at different times this season due to injury, Speaks has had trouble finding the field for much time since Week 13. We learned Thursday that this has much less to do with Speaks than it does with the veterans in front of him—Dee Ford and Justin Houston.“He’s making progress,” Smith said of Speaks. “I think right now obviously he’s not getting a lot of reps. Justin’s full-go, Dee is full-go, and to be honest, it’s hard to get them off the field. It makes you smile. Last game I said, let’s get you a breather, they said, ‘Don’t take me off this field.’ Both of them are playing really well. With Breeland, he’s still progressing.“When you’ve got two of the best in the league, especially some situations we’ve been in the game, closer games, I’m going to make sure my best guys are out there. Right now, that’s them Demetrius Harris Jersey , but it’s nothing against Breeland.”Speaks has had just 23 snaps over the course of the last three games, to be exact. Second-year outside linebacker Tanoh Kpassagnon has had eight, and he was even inactive for the game against the Los Angeles Chargers. But not to worry. With limited reps for the young players, Smith has found other ways to evaluate their progress.“It goes with practice, it goes with meetings,” he said. “It goes with when [Speaks] turns in his test [Thursday] after the meeting, where is he at? Is he getting and understanding the formations, the defenses? Even the [nine] snaps he was in the game last week. Where is he going from there? Not as much as when he’s playing 60 snaps a game you can do it, but that’s just kind of how you do it. That’s kind of where we’re at with them two (Speaks and Kpassagnon). It’ll be the same thing when Breeland is a main guy.”“Film study’s picked up,” Speaks explained. “It’s just more so knowing the situations that’s picked up and just becoming an all-around player. Just not trying to go out there and get sack. Just knowing who I have on certain drops, knowing what I have to do in certain situations—that’s been my job, just to master that.”Speaks says he is growing as a player regardless of time on the field.“I feel like I’ve done pretty good,” Speaks said. “I talked to Bob (Sutton) the other day. He was like, ‘Never thought you learn this much football in a year, huh?’ I really didn’t but it’s amazing what I’ve learned since I’ve gotten here and what I’ve continued to learn.”In a perfect world, Speaks would be on the field—but the Chiefs are right to admit he is not their top option right now. And although that will likely change next season, it is what it is.“You look around the league and I get the snap count every week, very few guys come off the field,” Smith said. “Look at Von Miller’s snaps. Look at (Bradley) Chubb’s snaps. Look at these guys around the league, that’s just how it is. You try to get a handful here and there, probably need to do a better job at that, but at this level, your best players better play. I get you’ve got to take a couple snaps here and there Cameron Erving Jersey , but especially when guys are playing well. They are a big part of this defense.”The Chiefs hope the continue to play well against the Oakland Raiders Sunday afternoon, when they can clinch the No. 1 seed in the AFC with a win. Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke to the media during his regular press conference on Monday, following Sunday’s 30-23 victory over the Denver Broncos. Here are some key takeaways:Reid said the firing of Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson — the news of which had just broken — wouldn’t substantially affect his planning for the game against the Browns on Sunday.Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports“I just found that out,” Reid said. “I hate seeing that happen to a friend. It’s a tough business. If you go through the process — and you’re honest with that every week — then it doesn’t matter what happens on the peripheral part of things. You control what you control, but you have no control over [what happens at the other team] or anything else that happens with any team. We can control the process. We can control how we how we work each day as coaches and players. It’s important that we just put our focus there, and not worry about the other stuff.”Reid was then asked if Jackson’s firing made it harder to prepare for the Browns.“They’re not going to change a whole lot. [They’re] so far into this. [They’ve] got hours invested in this. They didn’t change the offensive and defensive coordinators.”Reid was then told — apparently for the first time — that Browns offensive coordinator Todd Haley had also been fired.“All right. Well, then stick with the process. I’m back to that.”After the laughter died down, he asked, “You set me up on that one, huh?”After some more laughter, Reid got back to it.“The main thing is that we do what we do,” he said. “That’s the most important thing. I don’t think they’re going to change that much — even with that taking place. [They] have so much time invested in where they’re at right now. There might be a wrinkle here or there, but you can’t turn the whole thing over.”In light of Jackson’s firing — and the lack of continuity in Cleveland — Reid was asked how he approaches hiring decisions. “If you’re in a position that you hire, you try to hire good people, and you let them do their jobs,” he said. “In a leadership position, you try to set up a format of things that you want done within that, but don’t take away someone’s ability to let their personality show. Don’t take that away from them. Let them be who you’ve hired.”Reid said that he and his coaches do the best they can to give opposing teams a different look every week.Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports“We try to give a different look every week,” Reid said. “We bank on what we’ve installed in the OTAs and in camp, so we’re able to draw from that. But we’re always trying to give [opposing teams] a different look, so that when you get here, you don’t have to go back and go, ‘Doggone Reggie Ragland Jersey , we’ve run out of things.’”Reid said this also serves to keep his own players engaged with the process.“We keep it pretty fresh, and it keeps the guys fresh every week. It’s a nice little challenge for them. Are you going to change everything? Nobody’s going to do that, but we throw enough things in there for them to have some fun with it.”When told that Broncos defensive players were anxious to talk after the game about the creativity of Reid’s offense, Reid first wanted to compliment them.Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports“I had some of those guys in the Pro Bowl,” Reid said. “Those are good guys, too. They love to play the game. They showed me a little something. They have a pretty good culture going there.”With that out of the way, Reid spoke about how his assistant coaches are influencing the offense.“Eric Bieniemy is doing a phenomenal job,” he continued. “He doesn’t say much, but he’s got a very creative mind, and he also does a nice job with the team -- the offensive side of that. I defer more to him than any of the guys. Andy Heck is another one who gets zero credit — which I think he probably likes — but the run game stuff like these RPOs, he’s really bought in. This is different than what we all came up with, and Andy — as a line coach — had to make some changes there. He loves this stuff. He comes up with some phenomenal ideas.”Other notes from Monday’s press conference:Reid denied even being aware that the Chiefs have now won 19 of their last 20 division games but readily admitted the Chiefs make those games a priority in their planning. ”We spend time in the offseason practicing against AFC West teams, and doing what we can to do some homework on them. So there’s an emphasis there, but you’re only as good as that one game. So we try to stay focused on that.”Reid spoke about his sideline conversation with Tyreek Hill, after Hill had to be separated from Broncos defensive back Tramaine Brock in Sunday’s game. “He was fired up. And he’s not that kind of player. I don’t worry about him. But something happened there. The guy kind of took a shot at him. So it fired him up a little bit. He’s a competitive guy, but he normally keeps it all together, but he wanted to get after him. So I just told him to calm down.”Reid said that with the trade deadline approaching, he wasn’t aware of any trades in the works. ”I haven’t talked to Brett Veach today about any of that, so I don’t know where he is today. Up to today, we didn’t have anything. But you never know with him. He doesn’t miss much.”

Nickell Robey-Coleman had all the words the last two weeks. After Sunday’s Super Bowl loss to the Patriots White Adam Butler Jerseys , the Rams cornerback had fewer.Robey-Coleman admitted he committed a pass interference penalty which got the Rams this far, and then had the temerity to say Tom Brady‘s age was showing early last week. But after the game, he was clipped in his responses.Asked if any Patriots players said anything to him about his comments, he replied: “No, they didn’t.” Asked if anyone referred to the no-call in New Orleans: “No.”He also gave a “Yes” when asked if his early unnecessary roughness penalty was a clean hit, and then when asked if he got an explanation from officials he said” “No.”On whether it was a make-up call for the helmet-to-helmet which wasn’t called a week ago, he said a bit more.“I don’t know,” he said. “I really don’t know to be honest with you.”There were more words in response to other questions later, but that summed up the night for the Rams defense, which was close to something special, but unable to enjoy it. (All home teams in bold)Detroit (-2.5) vs CarolinaCarolina’s defense struggles to get turnovers, while Detroit seems to get a handful of them each game. Although I believe Cam Newton will have his second straight productive game Adam Butler Jerseys 2019 , the Lions are a really good football team, are at home, and will win the turnover battle. Sounds like all the ingredients for a win.Pick: Detroit (-2.5)Cleveland (-1) vs New York JetsBefore the season started, there were probably a lot of people who thought this would be a matchup of two winless teams. Well, they were half right. The Browns are 0-4, but the Jets are somehow 2-2 and now go on the road to face a team that looked terrible against Cincinnati last week. First overall pick Myles Garrett is finally going to make his NFL debut for Cleveland, though, and this Jets team is missing both starting running back Matt Forte and linebacker Josh Martin. They have questions in the secondary, too, with Juston Burris getting hurt in Thursday’s practice. I like Cleveland to win their first game and avoid the 0-16 talk (their schedule gets quite difficult after this).<em>Pick: Cleveland (-1) </em>New York Giants (-3.5) vs. LA ChargersThe Chargers seem to be in every game, and the Giants are having offensive line issues. Joey Bosa might have a monster performance on Sunday. Couple that with Philip Rivers and the Chargers saying that they are “looking forward” to playing on the road, and I think the Bolts are going to get their first win and send the Giants to 0-5.<em>Pick: Chargers (+3.5)</em>Cincinnati (-3) vs BuffaloBuffalo is 3-1 and coming off a huge win against the defending NFL champions White Elandon Roberts Jerseys , while Cincinnati is 1-3 coming off their first win against a lowly Browns team. Logic would tell you to pick Buffalo here, but Cincinnati has discovered a rhythm on offense. That rhythm? Get the ball to AJ Green more. He has received 36.4 percent of the Bengals’ targets during the last two games. The Bills do have a great defense, but AJ Green is going to make a couple plays and that will be the difference.<em>Pick: Cincinnati (-3)</em>Indianapolis (-1.5) vs San FranciscoThe 49ers have not lost by more than three points in their last three contests as they head to Indianapolis to take on a 1-3 Colts team. However, in San Francisco’s most recent loss, they almost played five full quarters of football. They also have to travel and have one of those dreaded 10 AM starts. Couple that with emotions being high (Peyton Manning is being honored with a statue pregame) and it wouldn’t surprise me to see Indianapolis win in a blowout.<em>Pick: Indianapolis (-1.5)</em>Tennessee (-3) vs Miami Marcus Mariota is a gametime decision here, which makes the pick difficult. The drop off from Mariota to backup QB Matt Cassel is significant. The Dolphins’ defense only giving up 19 points per game, and the Titans will have trouble moving the ball if Mariota is unable to go. Meanwhile, the Jay Cutler-led Dolphins offense has only scored six points in their last two games. The skill positions on that offense are too good to remain quiet. Head coach Adam Gase will let Jay Cutler loose a little bit and Jarvis Landry/Jay Ajayi will have big games.<em>Pick: Miami (+3)</em>Pittsburgh (-8.5) vs JacksonvilleBen Roethlisberger is playing at home with a motivated wide receiver in Antonio Brown (who seemed embarrassed by his actions on the sidelines last week). Antonio Brown makes people forget about his tirade and redeems himself with his best game of the year.<em>Pick: Pittsburgh (-8.5)</em>Philadelphia (-6.5) vs ArizonaLarry Fitzgerald always plays well against the Eagles, and Carson Palmer has thrown for over 300 yards in three straight games. Not sure if Arizona has enough to pull off the upset, but 6.5 points is a lot here.<em>Pick: Arizona (+6.5)</em>Oakland (-2.5) vs BaltimoreDerek Carr is not playing, which means EJ Manuel is slated to start for Oakland… hence the line here. Regardless, Marshawn Lynch has had a few quiet games and is due to erupt Elandon Roberts Jerseys 2019 , and Oakland’s defense should feast on Joe Flacco and draw at least a couple of turnovers. That’ll be the difference; Oakland will rebound from a few tough weeks and win going away.<em>Pick: Oakland (-2.5)</em>LA Rams (-1) vs SeattleThe Rams have had Seattle’s number over the past couple years, and Seattle’s defense (at least right now) is not what it once was. Russell Wilson seems to have teams he dominates and teams he struggles against. The Rams are a team he has a lot of problems with. Todd Gurley has a big game and the upstart Rams move to 4-1.<em>Pick: Rams (-1)</em>Dallas (-2.5) vs Green BayIt appears as if Aaron Rodgers is going to be without Ty Montgomery, who suffered broken ribs during last Thursday’s game. Montgomery has had a big role in the Packers offense. Rodgers also might be without David Bakhtari and Bryan Bulaga, two key members of his offensive line. That being said, it does not look like LB Sean Lee is going to play this week, which will make things easier on the Green Bay offense. The Cowboys are healthy and Dak Prescott looks like he is getting into a groove, but there’s just something about this year’s Cowboys team that makes me hesitant to pick them against a quarterback of Rodgers’ caliber.<em>Pick: Green Bay (+2.5)</em>Kansas City (-1) vs HoustonKansas City barely covered last week on a last-second fumble TD that I’m sure made a lot of bettors either (A) extremely happy or (B) extremely sad. Deshaun Watson looks like the real deal at QB for Houston and will lead the Texans to victory over the Chiefs in what will be the best game of the weekend.<em>Pick: Houston (+1)</em>Minnesota (-2.5) vs. ChicagoMitchell Trubisky is making his first start for the Bears. The Vikings could possibly be without Sam Bradford (who continues to rehab his knee) and will be without Dalvin Cook, who was lost for the year with an ACL injury. The Bears will have had ten days to get Trubisky ready, and he gets Chicago buzzing with a nice performance and a victory.<em>Pick: Chicago (+2.5)</em>

Mark Davis took in the day from a section of empty stands. Pretty much every day spent in Napa is a good day. Mark knows this. The team has been holding training camp in their current location for 20 years. Since Jon Gruden was coach before. You won’t find a better setup than the Raiders have there in Napa. It’s highly desirable. Davis has said before that he knows should they opt to move training camp elsewhere after the team’s move to Las Vegas, Jerry Jones would pounce on that spot with a quickness. Davis and the Raiders have explored locations in Reno and Lake Tahoe, but nothing has come of it yet. And with the team set to move in a year’s time, the likelihood of holding camp in Napa at least next year is a near certainty.Sunday, not only did he say it was “almost for sure” the Raiders would be back in Napa next year, but they could remain there beyond that.“I love it here,” Davis continued. “I have no problem with it, and it makes sense. No matter where we go, we’ll have to fly to Las Vegas from training camp. If we were to go to Reno, or anywhere else in the world to train, we would still have to fly there. Then, why not just fly from here?”This is exactly the questions I have asked since the moment they made their Vegas plans known. Plenty of teams hold training camps out of state. Jerry Jones’s Cowboys for instance Antonio Brown Jersey White , who train in Oxnard California. Some teams go nowhere at all, holding camp at their own facility, which doesn’t exactly offer the training camp atmosphere.Former Raiders linebacker Kirk Morrison played for three teams in the NFL and has been to several other camps since retiring from the league. He says none of them compare to Napa.“I’ve always said there’s 32 training camps and by far this is the best one that I personally have been through,” said Morrison who also played for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills. The Jaguars hold camp on site while the Bills go to nearby St John’s Fisher College. Not exactly camping.“It was just the elements that we would always love being out here and just the setup,” Morrison said of Napa. “The green, being able to walk literally from your hotel room to the practice field, you didn’t have to walk or drive anywhere. It was to a point where when you come to Napa, you parked your car and you literally watch it accumulate dirt for two weeks and you wouldn’t leave because there was no reason to leave. Everything was right here for you. “If the Raiders ever do leave here, trust me there would be a lot of teams that would love to come down here and have a very comfortable training camp because not only does it bring out a lot of people, but it brings out some camaraderie as well.”It’s good to see that Mark Davis at least shares the feeling about Napa. Hopefully his decision will be based on that.Follow @LeviDamien Rolando McClain has retired three times and currently is serving his third NFL suspension. The former linebacker hasn’t played since 2015. But McClain says he wants to come back . . . again.First, the NFL would have to reinstate McClain, who received an indefinite suspension on Dec. 2 Bo Jackson Jersey White , 2016. Then, McClain would have to find an NFL team willing to give him a third (fourth? fifth? sixth?) chance.A source confirmed the Cowboys retain his rights as he went on their reserve/suspended list before the 2016 season when he began a 10-game suspension, the second of his career. However, the Cowboys likely would cut McClain if he were to earn reinstatement, considering he signed a one-year, $5 million deal before the 2016 season.McClain retired twice with the Ravens and never played a down for Baltimore, missing the 2013 season, before they traded him to Dallas. He started 23 games in two seasons with the Cowboys, serving a four-game suspension in 2015.McClain never has shown a love for the game, and if he’s serious about coming back — which is a big if considering his history — then the XFL probably is a more likely destination.

HOUSTON鈥?Indianapolis receiver T.Y. Hilton missed multiple practices with a shoulder injury in the week leading up to Sunday’s trip to NRG Stadium for a critical AFC South matchup. The Colts said his status was up in the air.Hilton knew he couldn’t possibly miss a game at a place where he’s had more success than any receiver since the stadium opened in 2002.He played Seantrel Henderson Jersey , and in Indianapolis’ 24-21 win over Houston, Hilton had 199 receiving yards and Andrew Luck threw for 399 yards and two touchdowns.“This is my second home, man,” Hilton said, laughing. “This is my second home. I don’t know. Every time I come here, I just go off. I don’t know what it is.”Hilton entered as the all-time leader in receiving yards per game at NRG Stadium with 122.3 yards and finished Sunday just shy of 200 yards with nine catches on 12 targets. In seven career games in Houston, Hilton has topped 100 yards four times, with three of those for more than 175 yards. The Colts (7-6) snapped a nine-game winning streak by the Texans (9-4), trimming Houston’s lead over the AFC South to two games with three remaining.Luck said throughout the week, the Colts were seeing things in the Texans’ defense that led them to believe Hilton’s “speed and maneuverability” could again be a key to success in Houston.“Once we got that first one, it was like Senio Kelemete Jersey , ‘OK, here we go,'” Luck said. “When T.Y.’s in the zone, he’s in a zone, man. It’s fun to play with him and it’s an honor to play with him.”Hilton’s performance gave him his 11th 150-yard game, setting a franchise record. He has also topped 800 receiving yards for a seventh consecutive season, the longest active streak in the NFL.The Colts started slow and didn’t have a first down until early in the second quarter. They went to a no-huddle offense and found momentum on that drive before a pass from Luck was tipped by Kareem Jackson and intercepted by Andre Hal.Indianapolis finally ended a lengthy scoring drought after a 60-yard completion to Hilton set up a 4-yard touchdown run by Marlon Mack. The Colts entered Sunday having allowed just 14 sacks, second only to New Orleans. Houston’s usually menacing pass rush was largely neutralized with just two sacks from J.J. Watt and Christian Covington after being held without a sack against Cleveland last week.“They did a good job, they played good football,” Watt said. “T.Y. obviously had a huge day. We knew going in that’s a guy we had to stop and we didn’t. That’s on everybody. Luck did a good job spreading it around, guys got open and he found them. We have to play better.”Indianapolis’ defense Black Tytus Howard Jersey , on the other hand, gave Houston fits both in the passing and running game. The Colts sacked Watson five times for a loss of 41 yards and held Houston’s rushing offense to just 89 yards on 25 carries.“There was a confidence all week,” Reich said. “What was best about this was, we expected to win this game. We really did.”Watson had 267 yards passing and 35 yards rushing. Tight end Ryan Griffin led Houston receivers with 80 yards on five catches, while Hopkins was held to 36 yards on four catches.“We’re good. I mean, it’s the NFL 鈥?every game is tough,” Watson said. “It’s tough to go on a two-game winning streak. We went on nine. Today it ended, but it’s a new task to put this game behind us. Next week, we’re 0-0 and we’ll try to get 1-0. It’s no panic button for us. We’ll keep moving and try to flip the script next week and get back to the winning column.”Houston cut Indianapolis’ lead to 24-21 with a 7-yard touchdown pass from Deshaun Watson to DeAndre Hopkins with less than three minutes remaining. With the Colts facing a critical third-and-1 at midfield, Luck drew Jadeveon Clowney offside to secure a first down and the win.Clowney refused to comment when approached by reporters.Houston scored first on a 3-yard touchdown run by running back Alfred Blue. The Colts then scored 17 straight before Houston opened the third quarter with a long drive to a 1-yard touchdown run on a direct snap to Lamar Miller to cut the Colts’ lead to 17-14.The Colts took a 14-7 lead late in the first half on a 14-yard pass from Luck to Eric Ebron. It was Luck’s fourth straight touchdown pass to a tight end, three of which went to Ebron.Luck had not thrown a touchdown pass to a non-tight end since the Nov. 18 win over Tennessee until the third quarter White Tytus Howard Jersey , when he found receiver Zach Pascal for a 12-yarder to put the Colts up 24-14.Indianapolis had a 54-yard field goal by Adam Vinatieri as time expired in the second quarter to take a 17-7 halftime lead. During Houston’s winning streak, the team never trailed at halftime.“I don’t like what happened today, but I’m fine with where we are,” Texans coach Bill O’Brien said. “This is the NFL. We did not do a good enough job today. The Colts did a much better job than us. There’s a lot of football left.”PLAYOFF RACEIndianapolis will host the Cowboys and Giants before closing out the season in Tennessee, while Houston visits the Jets and Eagles before hosting Jacksonville in the finale.HOPKINS’ MILESTONEWith a 10-yard reception in the third quarter, Texans receiver DeAndre Hopkins topped 7,000 receiving yards in his career. At 26 years, 6 months, 3 days, Hopkins became the second-youngest player in NFL history to surpass 7,000 yards Youth Tytus Howard Jersey , behind only Larry Fitzgerald who was 26 years, 3 months and 20 days when he reached the mark.EBRON IN THE END ZONEWith his 12th receiving touchdown of the season, Colts tight end Eric Ebron set a franchise record for the position. The record was previously held by Dallas Clark. Ebron also has one rushing touchdown on the season. In four seasons with the Lions, Ebron totaled 11 touchdown catches and one rushing touchdown.ASTROS IN ATTENDANCEHouston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman, infielder/outfielder Marwin Gonzalez and pitcher Lance McCullers were all in attendance, with Bregman wearing a custom No. 2 Texans jersey with his name on the back. Bregman also briefly played catch with Watt on the sidelines during pre-game warmups.INJURIESTexans receiver and kick returner Deandre Carter left in the first quarter and was later ruled out with a concussion. . Colts right guard Mark Glowinski was carted to the locker room in the second quarter with an ankle injury.UP NEXTColts: Host the Cowboys next Sunday.Texans: Visit the Jets next Saturday. I think he’s the third best receiver in football right behind Julio Jones (1a) and Antonio Brown (1b) and where I’d place them among each other just depends on how dangerous I’m feeling. Now, I do think Hopkins is the most interesting to watch, the most unique, is the most important to his offense, is the most skillful Tytus Howard Jersey 2019 , and has the best hands hands in the league, but he doesn’t have the ability to turn a slant route into a dance party, and doesn’t have the speed, quickness, straight line running ability these two have. That’s just my opinion though. Let’s hear it from the rest of the masthead after I asked them:Matt Burnham:Mike Bullock:Kenenth L.:Rivers McCown:

It's time Travis Fulgham Jersey 2019 , we're down to the wire, making our last calls."It's Draft Week around the NFL. Teams have finalized their boards, the prospects have their travel itineraries if they're attending the drafts, and, if not, they've already packed their houses with snacks and drinks for their families to enjoy while waiting for their name to be called. It's an exciting time for the team, the players, and for fans who want to know what their team may look like this coming season. For us, it means final mock draft time, so here we go.Pick 8: Brian Burns, DE/LB Florida State I've went around and around with this pick. Except for extreme situations where one of Josh Allen or Quinnen Williams fall, it's been a tough call between players like Burns, Montez Sweat, Ed Oliver, and others. In this case, the dream scenarios didn't happen so I had the same type of choice once again. In comparing athletic traits this week, I found one of the cleanest comps you'll ever find between two prospects in Brian Burns and Danielle Hunter. They were similar to an every degree in every metric that both measured in, and I think their ceilings are the same. Burns comes pre-packaged with a dynamic pass rushing skillset, something Hunter lacked when entering the NFL, so his initial impact may be even larger, especially in a defense like Matt Patricia's that can take advantage of his ability to move around.Pick 43: Deebo Samuel. WR, South Carolina A few weeks back, Deebo Samuel was referred to as "an assassin from the slot" and it's stuck with me. It's hard to find many terms more encapsulating of a player's talents than that, and his immediate impact could be a rookie Pro Bowl in this scheme, he fits that well. I had considered Chris Lindstrom in this spot as he was once again available, but I've taken the Boston College guard so often I wanted to provide a little bit of flavor with this pick. I think that a receiver like Deebo Samuel can provide similar rookie impact.Pick 88, Sione Takitaki, LB, BYU Everyone is looking for the big Bob Quinn surprise small-school pick here, and while BYU isn't a small school, this pick still fits the mold. I have, admittedly, been stanning for Takitaki for months, so anyone who follows me on social media probably saw this coming from a mile away. While Takitaki has some red flags in his past, his story is one of the most interesting of the class. After being dismissed after several off-field concerns from BYU, he was accepted back to the team after he was married and not only cleaned up his act but became a team leader upon his return. His play isn't flawless, he relies a bit too much on his elite athletic profile rather than technique, but he has the highest ceiling of any LB in this class. I think if he is given the time and attention he needs to clean up his technique, his devotion to improving his craft could see him as a Bobby Wagner type of interior presence in this defense.Pick 111: Kingsley Keke, DL, Texas A&M I've been stating for some time that Keke is a guy who can sneak into that late Day 2 talk, so seeing him still on the board here felt like a coup. He is a reasonably polished player with a ton of athletic potential with the versatility to line up along the line. All of those are traits this coaching staff coaching staff covets, so I think he's going to be one they consider strongly here.Pick 146: Foster Moreau Travis Fulgham Jersey Mens , TE, LSU Foster Moreau may have the highest ceiling of this class. He's starting from a much lower floor than T.J. Hockenson or Noah Fant, and he doesn't have the route tree of Jace Sternberger or Caleb Wilson, but Moreau can contribute as a blocker from day one and gives you the elite athletic potential to be a playmaker down the road when he develops. We talk about Hockenson as if he's George Kittle for the obvious reasons, but Moreau may be even closer since he's not likely to he an early pick but has the same level of potential. Pick 184: Ka'dar Hollman, CB, Toledo With so many prospects from Michigan, Michigan State, and even Central Michigan getting the big media push, the Lions go a different direction in terms of picking a local cornerback prospect by taking Ka'dar Hollman late. Like former Toledo tight end Michael Roberts, the team spent time with Hollman at his Pro Day, and while he's not likely to be ready to start from the jump, he has the potential to be a complementary piece in a defensive backfield in relatively short order. I would expect Hollman to edge out Teez Tabor and other bottom roster corners in training camp to steal a roster spot, but he's enough of an unknown that he probably clears waivers if he's not able to impress immediately and needs a year on the practice squad.Pick 204: Alex Bars, OG, Notre Dame Alex Bars has dealt with multiple injuries in his Notre Dame career, missing some time and putting his NFL projection in a bit of a difficult range. His tape, on the other hand, can be very good, and if it weren’t for all the lost time, we would probably be talking about Bars as a starting caliber guard at the NFL level a lot louder. As it is, it’s a risky pick even this late, but it’s one that I can say with confidence has enough upside to justify a late-round selection. Bars has starter potential if he can stay healthy.Pick 224: Josiah Tauaefa, LB, UTSA When it comes to linebackers, you tend to want the fast movers and explosive playmakers. Sometimes you just want a guy who’s going to do his job and maintain his assignment. Those guys tend to get the label “faster playing speed than timed speed” or “instinctive.” Tauaefa falls into that category as he doesn’t look, nor did he measure out, as a top =0tier athlete, but his play speed is acceptable. Tauaefa would make the squad based on special teams play at first, and while I don’t think he’s going to be an every year Pro Bowler, I think he has Josh Bynes, long-term starter potential.Pick 229: Keelan Doss, WR, Cal-DavisIf I had to pick a single player in this mock draft that is going either far too early or far too late, it would be this pick. Keelan Doss is similar to Kenny Golladay in that he’s being pursued by multiple teams who are trying to keep their interest on the down low. Like Golladay, it’s possible Doss even sneaks into Day 2 of the draft. With a more impressive athletic profile than many expected, Doss has seen his name seemingly mentioned by every team’s beat and is a popular pick from the beginning to the end of Day 3. When I saw him still on the board, I was shocked that he wasn’t taken earlier, and I could see him being selected in any of the previous five picks. Doss would immediately improve the receiving depth, and I have faith he would make the final roster, knowing that he would be unlikely to clear waivers. Year 1, he’s probably depth, but if the team was looking for a developmental player to step into Marvin Jones’ role Youth Travis Fulgham Jersey , taking a guy who projects to Jones as his ceiling is a good bet.SummaryThis would see the Lions addressing their pass rush, slot receiver position, linebacker depth, and sets up several other positions for the long term by adding quality depth with developmental potential. Though I made a late hail mary, I wasn’t able to address the right guard position as I had hoped, and while Hollman provides some solid depth and potential for the future, he doesn’t do much in the short term to aid the cornerback spot. It wasn’t the perfect draft, but I think it turned out alright considering how the board fell. Do you think you can do better? Give us your best seven-round mock draft in the comments, and while you’re at it enter a ballot into our first Pride of Detroit mock draft challenge, instructions here. Most seasons in the NFL, there tends to be a consensus No. 1 overall player, excluding quarterbacks. Sure, draftniks will quibble over a player here and there, but often that top player entering the season remains so barring a staggering drop in production or serious injury. Jadeveon Clowney was the top dog coming into his draft season and even with a huge drop in production and injuries, remained the No. 1 pick in most people’s eyes. Nick Bosa was that guy coming into the 2018 season, and despite a serious core muscle injury that sidelined him for most of the season, he has remained the top overall non-quarterback on nearly every draft board I’ve seen. So why are we talking about him as a possibility at eighth overall? Nick Bosa, DE, Ohio StateHeight: 6036 (6 feet, 3 3鈦? inches) | Weight: 263 pounds2016 Stats: 17 Solo Tackles, 29 Total, 5.0 Sacks, 2.0 TFL2017 Stats: 19 Solo Tackles, 34 Total, 8.5 Sacks, 7.5 TFL2018 Stats: 11 Solo Tackles, 14 Total, 4.0 Sacks, 2.0 TFLCurrent Draft Projection: First OverallBackgroundSome notes from his team profile here:Just like now, Bosa was highly regarded coming out of high school. A five-star prospect in his recruiting class, rating as the top defensive end prospect by nearly everyone, Bosa has only ever been considered one of the best. He also comes with NFL bloodlines. His father, John, was a first-round draft pick in 1987, while his older brother Joey was the third overall pick by the Chargers in 2016. He also has an uncle in former first-round linebacker Eric Kumerow.StrengthsWith good size, general athletic ability, technique, and hand usage, it’s hard to come up with reasons on tape that you wouldn’t rate Bosa as your top player. Like his brother, he has fantastic bend for a player of his size, and his explosiveness is fantastic. He finds his way into the backfield with an array of polished pass rushing moves, varying them depending on the situation and opponent and changing them up to keep blockers on their heels. There are no issues with functional strength, ability to use counters White Travis Fulgham Jersey , or deficiencies in one phase of defense or the other. He’s not a top prospect for nothing.WeaknessesSo back to that initial question, why are we talking about Nick Bosa as a possibility at eighth overall if he’s this strong of a prospect? Well, as great as his tape is, it isn’t without wrinkles. The similarities with his brother and father haven’t ended just yet, and like those two we aren’t talking about a speedy pass rusher who you’ll see chasing down running backs on the backside like Jadeveon Clowney or Myles Garrett. And speaking of those two, each of them, along with Mario Williams—who also went first overall—ran in the 4.5, 4.6, and 4.7 range respectively. Bosa is more likely to run in the mid 4.8s, just like his father and brother. His other athletic traits will still keep him in the conversation as an elite athlete, but that’s going to be a concern. Another concern he shares with both his relatives is a troubling injury history. Nick Bosa enters the 2019 draft injured, Joey Bosa made a Pro Bowl after a massive season in 2017, but injuries have been the real story of his short career so far. John Bosa’s career ended due to repeated injuries and surgeries in only three seasons. It’s even worse if you consider his mother’s side, as Eric Kumerow also struggled with injuries in his short NFL career.Nick Bosa is his own man, but the similarities in physical traits and durability are pretty glaring in this instance. While athletic testing will favor him, teams who utilize production analytics will likely be less than impressed with him as well.Position Specific TraitsPass RushAs mentioned before, Bosa has a talent for breaking away from his blockers. Whether it’s his elite, signature explosiveness, bending the edge, using his hands to powerfully force blockers away, or a myriad of other ways, Bosa knows what he’s doing as a pass rusher. I wouldn’t put him on the same level as his brother was, but he’s still a very talented prospect that, when healthy, should be able to significantly improve the front seven of whoever drafts him. Run DefenseGap sound and technically proficient, Bosa doesn’t struggle in knowing where he’s supposed to be in the run game nor getting there. His tackle and TFL numbers weren’t gaudy, so there’s a lot of projection based on the traits he exhibited rather than pure production. Athletic Ability Bosa flashes elite explosion, above average agility, and great functional strength to go along with prototypical NFL size. His speed is not as impressive, which may turn some off, but I expect him to rate right about where his brother and father did when they came out which is just north of elite athletically overall.Personal ProjectionLook, I’m not going to be the guy sitting here trying to be all contradictory and stating that the entire draft community at large is wrong for projecting Nick Bosa first overall. I will, however, point out that it isn’t as crazy to state that he could fall out of not only that spot but the top five. The only three pass rushers that went with the top pick all rated as 97th (Jadeveon Clowney), 99.9th (Myles Garrett), and 100th percentile (Mario Williams) athletes when they were drafted. The bar isn’t set just at being an elite athlete, but being one of the best ever. With Nick Bosa’s speed not being top notch, I don’t see him reaching those heights. Add in the injury history, and teams may shy away even if the medicals check out at the Combine. For the Lions, he’d be hard to resist if he lasts until that eighth overall pick, but you’d have to question the logic of taking an oft-injured pass rusher to replace Ezekiel Ansah. The team already knows how difficult it is to generate a pass rusher without a reliable top threat. Adding another that could potentially devastate opposing offenses but could also be completely ineffective due to game day inactivity or having to be on a pitch count is something I’m not willing to spend much energy on.

After dominating the Senior Bowl and the NFL combine Clayton Fejedelem Jersey White , Montez Sweat is on track to be a top-10 pick. If he’s not, the Bengals become a serious contender to draft him."Two years ago, wide receiver prospect John Ross ran himself into the top 10 picks of the NFL Draft thanks to his record-breaking 4.22 40-yard dash. While defensive end Montez Sweat isn’t quite that fast, he may very well find himself coming off the board in the exact same range as Ross did.A tremendous showing at the NFL combine (headlined by his 4.41 40 time) is what established Sweat as a bonafide first-round prospect. Solid production, strong tape and positional value is what elevates him into the discussion just outside the first handful of picks. Every team needs more pass rushers, and the Bengals can’t pretend to be an exception. Sweat has a résumé that the NFL will always value. If not for names like Nick Bosa and Josh Allen, it may not even be a discussion if Sweat is gone after the first 10 picks.Ahead of the draft, we’re doing an ‘11 for 11’ series making the case for 11 different players for the Bengals’ No. 11 overall pick.Up first, here’s why the Bengals should take Sweat with the 11th overall pick:Outside of linebacker and offensive tackle, defensive end is a sneaky need for the Bengals. Carl Lawson is coming off of a torn ACL and Jordan Willis hasn’t proven much in two seasons. Now that Michael Johnson is gone, there is very little depth behind Carlos Dunlap and Johnson’s presumed replacement Sam Hubbard.Even if Lawson is going to make a full recovery Womens Joe Mixon Jersey , edge rushers should always be in consideration for a franchise’s first-round pick, especially one that’s missed the playoffs forthree consecutive seasons. In a draft class that’s utterly front-loaded with talent on the defensive line, Sweat has managed to rise near the top and separate himself from the second-tier players at his position.Even with multiple pass rushers set to come off the board before the Bengals select, Sweat would very easily be one of the highest ranked players available.Sweat ran the fastest 40-yard dash for a defensive lineman in the history of the combine. His vertical jump (36”), broad jump (10’5”), 3-cone drill (7.00) and short shuttle (4.29) all ranked in the top-six for edge rushers at Indianapolis this past March. Sweat posted those numbers after measuring in at a hair under 6’6”, 260 with 35.75” arms, 10.5” hands and a marvelous 84.75” wingspan. In his two seasons at Mississippi State, Sweat has accounted for 22 of his defense’s 75 sacks (29.33% market share)and 29.5 of 189 tackles for loss (15.6% market share).More than just a pass disrupter, no draft-eligible edge defender had a higher run-stop percentage (12.7%) than Sweat in 2018, per Pro Football Focus. With a frontline that already has Lawson Vincent Rey Jersey White , Dunlap, Hubbard and Geno Atkins, not to mention a promising secondary, the addition of Sweat could make this Bengals defense elite, despite flaws at linebacker. Here’s why the Bengals should pass on Sweat with the 11th overall pick:Despite having positional value, selecting Sweat over either Devin White or Devin Bush at linebacker would be quite the controversial move. NFL teams don’t purely draft best player available in the first round, the Bengals proved that fact last year.Sweat isn’t universally ranked high. PFF has him as only their 46th best player. It can be argued that Sweat’s combine performance wasn’t indicative of the athleticism he showed on the field in pads. His lack of bend around the edge is a notable flaw of his. The Bengals only have to look at Willis for a similar discrepancy. While his production was decent, it wasn’t dominant. Even at SEC programs, the best NFL prospects dominate the box scores for their collegiate unit. Sweat’s production keeps the possibility of a high quality career alive, but far from a certainty. There will be at least two edge rushers taken before Sweat no matter when he’s drafted. For the Bengals, who lack sufficient talent at multiple positions on their roster Alex Erickson Jersey White , adding Sweat would likely mean declining the chance of adding the best player at another position of need. The Bengals have shown clear interest in drafting a defensive lineman early, and Sweat is arguably the best one they’ve met with over the last few weeks. If he remains available, he belongs in the most likely outcomes at 11th overall. Quarterback Andy Dalton isn’t thrilled about being benched by the Bengals, but it appears he’s also unhappy with the timing of the move.Dalton spoke to reporters on Wednesday about Tuesday’s announcement that fourth-round pick Ryan Finley will be taking over as the starter once the team returns from their bye week.“I don’t agree with the decision but I’m going do everything I can to help the team,” Dalton said, via Paul Dehner of TheAthletic.com.While Dalton wouldn’t have agreed with the decision at any point, a little more notice would have been appreciated. He said that his agent tried to facilitate a deal that would send him to another team where he’d still have a chance to play, but there was a time crunch given the timing of the team’s announcement. It’s impossible to know if more time would have led to a trade, but it seems clear that Dalton will get a chance to move elsewhere via a trade or as a free agent following his release once the end of the season.

The Houston Texans continued a busy day of trades on Saturday by addressing a glaring need to upgrade their offensive line by acquiring left tackle Laremy Tunsil from the Miami Dolphins in a deal which also netted them receiver Kenny Stills, a source familiar with the deal tells The Associated Press. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the trade had not yet been announced.Miami will receive two first-round picks, one in the second and will also get offensive tackle Julién Davenport and cornerback Johnson Bademosi in the deal. The Texans will get a fourth-round pick in the trade, which comes after they agreed to a deal to ship 2014 top overall pick Jadeveon Clowney to the Seahawks earlier on Saturday, according to sources.Tunsil immediately improves a line which allowed Deshaun Watson to be sacked an NFL-leading 62 times last season. Tunsil http://www.thedolphinslockerroom.com/authentic-matt-haack-jersey , the 13th overall pick in the 2016 draft, has started 44 games for the Dolphins in the past three seasons. The Texans signed veteran left tackle Matt Kalil in the offseason to protect Watson’s blind side, but the 25-year-old Tunsil will be a much better option after Kalil has struggled with injuries for years.Despite Tunsil being considered one of the league’s top left tackles, the Dolphins considered him expendable because they’re in the early stages of a multiyear makeover under first-year coach Brian Flores. They were unable to reach a deal on a contract extension with him after exercising a fifth-year option on his rookie contract for $10.35 million in 2020.He made headlines when a bizarre video of him smoking from a gas mask-bong contraption was posted on his Twitter account shortly before the 2016 draft began. That caused him to fall in the draft and be available for Miami to pick him.Stills joins a solid receiving group in Houston led by DeAndre Hopkins, which also has Will Fuller and Keke Coutee, who have both missed significant time with injuries. Stills spent his first two seasons in New Orleans before playing for the Dolphins for the past four seasons. He has been extremely durable in the past three seasons Womens Laremy Tunsil Jersey , starting all but one game. Stills had 37 receptions for 553 yards and six touchdowns last season after finishing with 847 yards receiving and six scores in 2017. A fifth-round pick in 2013, Stills has 4,138 yards receiving and 32 touchdowns in his career.Things are more complicated off the field where Stills recently criticized the politics of team owner Stephen Ross and was razzed by his coach on the subject of Jay-Z.He is outspoken on social issues, and has been kneeling during the national anthem for the past four seasons to protest racial inequality and police brutality. But the Dolphins’ decision to trade him may have been based on football.Stills has 24 touchdown catches in the past four seasons for Miami. But he’s in the third season of a $32 million, four-year contract, which made him expensive and expendable as the Dolphins rebuild and expect to be also-rans in 2019.In early August Mike Gesicki Jersey , Stills objected to Ross hosting a fundraiser for President Donald Trump, and said there was a contradiction in the Dolphins owner supporting both the president and racial equality. Stills said he later spoke with Ross and they agreed to disagree while harboring no hard feelings.Last week, Stills objected to remarks from Jay-Z about social activism by current and former NFL players. The next day Flores had more than half a dozen songs by the rapper played at the start of practice.Flores expressed a concern that Stills was distracted by “what’s going on outside,” and said the receiver’s performance in training camp had been disappointing. The Dolphins have repeatedly denied they’re tanking in 2019. But they’re widely expected to be among the NFL’s worst teams, and the trade increases the likelihood they’ll secure a high draft pick and take a franchise quarterback in the first round next April. The Texans also acquired running back Carlos Hyde in a trade with Kansas City for offensive tackle Martinas Rankin on Saturday to add depth after losing starter Lamar Miller to a season-ending knee injury.

The Kansas City Chiefs are poised to head into the regular season with a defensive backfield that bears very little resemblance to the one that spent the offseason and training camp together. The Chiefs released eight players from their secondary on Saturday Los Angeles Rams Jerseys Stitched , including underperforming cornerback David Amerson, as they trimmed their roster to the NFL's 53-man limit. They also were poised to add safety Ron Parker, who spent the past four seasons with Kansas City before joining Atlanta. He was released by the Falcons this past week and was visiting the Chiefs on Saturday.Throw in a trade with Dallas on Thursday night that landed cornerback Charvarius Ward, and another with Miami on Friday for safety Jordan Lucas, and that's quite the secondary overhaul."I think with every position we're always going to be looking to get better," Chiefs general manager Brett Veach said. "We're not going to look at a position and say, 'We're good there.' "Especially one where the Chiefs dealt away one of the league's biggest stars, Marcus Peters.Amerson was released by the Raiders before signing with Kansas City Bobby Evans Jersey nfl draft , where he was expected to solidify the secondary after Peters was sent to the Rams. But he was often burned in preseason games, and his release appeared imminent when the Chiefs traded for Ward during their preseason finale. They also added Kendall Fuller earlier this year, grabbing him from the Redskins in the trade for quarterback Alex Smith, and signed veteran Orlando Scandrick late in camp. Late-round pick Tremon Smith has shown flashes, too, giving the Chiefs an intriguing but unproven mix of talents."Kendall is a very talented player and can do a bunch of stuff, and Stevie (Nelson) is healthy. Last year he was hurt the first eight games," Veach said. "Tremon has shown he's making strides and if Charvarius can follow on that path Bobby Evans black jersey , you have two young guys moving forward and a lot of arsenal in regards to picks and the salary cap moving forward."The Chiefs kept safety Daniel Sorensen on the 53-man roster, an indication they expect him back at some point this season. He broke a bone in his leg but was not placed on injured reserve. With the status of Eric Berry a bit uncertain — he missed most of training camp with a stubborn heel injury — it made sense that Veach would bring in Parker to solidify the safety spot."We're working through the process," Veach said, "but anytime you can add a guy who played here, knows the system, it's always going to be advantageous."Here are some of the other big takeaways from the Chiefs' roster cuts Saturday:LINEBACKER UPSETThe Chiefs kept undrafted rookie Ben Niemann over Ukeme Eligwe at middle linebacker, even though Eligwe was a fifth-round pick last year and started Week 17. Eligwe was among the players who protested during the national anthem, though it appears that had nothing to do with his release."We had two teams call us about Ben Bobby Evans Jersey Mens ," Veach said, "so we knew he wasn't going to get to the practice squad. If there was any indecision, the dialogue with teams basically told us there's no way we can move this guy because he's done so much."TIGHT ENDSThe Chiefs cut Jace Amaro and Tim Wright, leaving them only Travis Kelce and Alex Ellis for their Week 1 game against the Chargers. Demetrius Harris is suspended for the opener for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy, and Veach said the Chiefs are content with three tight ends when he returns.OTHER COMPETITIONSMatt McGloin beat out Chase Litton for the No. 3 quarterback job, though Veach said the Chiefs hope to keep the undrafted rookie on the practice squad. Damien Williams and undrafted rookie Darrel Williams joined Kareem Hunt and Spencer Ware at running back, where Kerwynn Williams, Ray Lawry and Algernon Brown were released. The final wide receiver spot went to Marcus Kemp Greg Gaines Los Angeles Rams Jerseys , who beat out a group that included Jehu Chesson, Gehrig Dieter and Jordan Smallwood.INJURED RESERVEThe only player placed on IR was wide receiver Byron Pringle, an undrafted rookie who surprised in training camp. In what might have been a fortuitous injury for the Chiefs, Pringle hurt a hamstring in their preseason finale, allowing them to keep him on IR this season. You won’t see any Rams on here! The Saints, however..."If you’ve been following along this week, you know that the Los Angeles Rams are about as healthy as you could ever ask them to be as they head into the NFC Championship game against the New Orleans Saints. That bodes well in what is now the most important 60 minutes of their entire season. And the Friday injury report isn’t going to raise any concerns. The Saints, however Los Angeles Rams Jerseys 2019 , will be without a pair of pass-catchers. And despite the injury report listing him as questionable for Sunday’s game, the Saints will indeed be without veteran tight end Benjamin Watson — as it was announced earlier that he’ll miss the game with appendicitis. You’ve got to feel for a 15-year veteran like Watson, who announced he’ll retire after this season. Should the Rams win on Sunday, it’s clearly not the exit to his career the 38 year old TE had envisioned. But the absence of Watson and Keith Kirkwood, along with the dinged up nature of their offensive line, bode well for the Rams.

The fan who aimed a laser light at Patriots quarterback Tom Brady from the stands at Arrowhead Stadium has reportedly been identified by the Chiefs.Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the fan has been banned from Arrowhead Stadium for life as a result. Video from the game shows a green laser at Brady’s head and torso before he took a snap in the Patriots win.“There’s a lot of pride in Kansas City Damien Williams Jersey , and we and our fans thought, ‘You don’t do that here,'” a Chiefs official said. The fan is also facing criminal charges as a result of the incident. Per the report, the Kansas City police department wanted to cite the fan with disorderly conduct. The team has been pushing for a stronger charge as they feel “the harshest penalty possible” will deter others from repeating the act in the future. But there’s still a lot of speculation about it; opinions vary.Lee’s signing doesn’t give us much clarity. Like Attaochu, Lee has been playing in a 3-4 scheme with the Jets, so there’s no obvious indicator of where he would fit in a 4-3. For the Cowboys http://www.chiefslockerroom.com/authentic-joe-montana-jersey , Wilson and Hitchens played Sam and Mike respectively — one of the factors we’re considering when penciling them in as Chiefs starters at those positions — but were required to learn all three. The Athletic’s Nate Taylor says he’s been told Lee will be competing with O’Daniel to be the starting Will linebacker, but the fact remains that most of Lee’s snaps for the Jets were at inside linebacker. We’ll just have to see how it plays out.Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY SportsThe Chiefs might (or might not) be done with splashy movesPer OverTheCap, the Chiefs had about $16.7 million of available cap space before the trade. With it, the figure will drop to about $15.4 million — Lee’s contract will consume $1.8 million, and $570,000 will be added back in as Zack Golditch’s contract drops below the 51-player cutoff. On June 2, Eric Berry’s contract will come off the books, and that will add another $9 million to the total — $9.5 million in cap savings, less Golditch’s contract when it moves back up above the cutoff. So there’s enough cap space there for the Chiefs to make a big move. Many fans want one. There’s been speculation that the Chiefs would be an ideal landing spot for reportedly-disgruntled Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson — but so far, it’s nothing but speculation. It appears to have started with an article by CBS Sports’ John Breech a week ago Womens Larry Johnson Jersey , which listed a trade to the Chiefs for a first-round pick among seven possible NFL trades. And now that Peterson has been suspended for the first six games of the season for violating the league’s policy for performance-enhancing drugs, trade offers for Peterson could be smaller. At least for the moment, all we know for sure is that the Chiefs are being careful to conserve both their cap and draft capital.Whether that’s because they intend to make another big move — or are conserving cap space for the upcoming contract they want to sign with Chris Jones, or even for the bigger one with Patrick Mahomes — remains to be seen. This move went under the radarAlthough there were plenty of New York (and national) writers who were speculating that Lee could be a trade target after the Jets declined to exercise his fifth-year option — even John Breech’s aforementioned article suggested a Lee trade to the Cincinnati Bengals — there appears to have been no significant reporting that this deal was in the works. But according to Sports Illustrated MMQB writer Albert Breer, the Chiefs had been in negotiations with the Jets for “a few weeks.” So this shows that the Chiefs were willing to hold up the deal over the difference between a fifth- and sixth-round pick for a player they “view as one of the best pure cover linebackers in football” — another indication they’re being careful with their resources. And it also demonstrates that while we often hear about deals being negotiated before they happen, if they want to, NFL teams can keep these kinds of negotiations under wraps.Brett Veach loves to take fliers on former early draft picksThere are now five former first-round picks on the Chiefs roster — and three of them have been picked up from other teams.Lee will be joining Sammy Watkins and Cam Erving in Brett Veach’s First-Round Castoff Club — of which Reggie Ragland (drafted 41st in the second round by the Buffalo Bills in 2016) and Frank Clark (drafted 63rd in the second round by the Seattle Seahawks in 2015) are honorary members.Lee will need a new numberAs a member of the Jets, Lee wore 58.That’s not going to work in Kansas City.43 seems to be available — and Lee wore 43 at Ohio State.Slam dunk!
